COUNTRY FOCUS- Tanzania

Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. Known for its idyllic wilderness and safari parks. It has become a popular destination for honeymooners or just those who would prefer an uninhibited break.
If the plains of the Serengeti National Park, sporting the big five(Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, elephants and Lions) is not your thing, you can try the Kilimanjaro National bank, home to Africa's highest mountain. Preferred travelling time periods can be determined by the weather, which varies from humid and hot in low lying areas, such as Dar es Salaam, to hot during the day and cool at night in Arusha. There are no discernible seasons, such as winter and summer -- only the dry and wet seasons.

Although, it's national treasures are beautiful and it is a gem for many travellers, travelling for sights and sounds may be more far-fetched and food just your major inspiration. In that case, worry not. Tanzanians have taste for very simple but flavourful packed meals.

A common national treasure is the Chipsi mayai which means  “chips and eggs” in Swahili and is a favourite comfort food in Tanzania. In its purest form, it is nothing more than a french fries omelette.
Another favourite is the popular roadside grilled Nyama Choma (grilled meat) and Mshikaki (marinated beef), Ugali is the most common staple food in Tanzania due to its ease of cooking and affordability. Maize flour and water is cooked slowly until it reaches a dough-like consistency, after which it’s left for a moment to set before being eaten, the Zanzibar pizza is popular on the island from which it draws its name, this “pizza” is probably one of the most interesting and delicious things you will eat in Tanzania. It starts out with a sheet of dough which is then filled with onions, peppers, meat, a raw egg and maybe a slice of cheese, all wrapped up into the sandwich sized pocket and then placed on the pan to fry in a puddle of oil.

As Africa's global bank, our presence in Tanzania has been to serve the customer and we are excited to be part of a country's journey, rich in culture, heritage and flavour.
