TICAD 7; TOE AND PHILOSOPHY OF AFRICAPITALISM AND COLLABORATION FOR A PROGRESSIVE AFRICA

Achieving development goals remains an unfinished business for African countries, it is an unending process. The future of growth and its impact on poverty reduction in Africa hinges on what happens to structural transformation.

Africa faces a variety of complex challenges that affect inclusiveness for all segments of society, especially the youth. Given the projected growth of Africa’s youth group, it is essential for governments and private institutions to carve out workable strategies to target these challenges.

Many countries on the continent and beyond have been taking active steps towards a more youth centred economic policy frameworks.

Japan is a co-host of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), a conference held regularly with the objective to promote high-level policy dialogue between African leaders and development partners. This year, the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holds on 28 to 30 August 2019.

TICAD is a multilateral forum where fruitful discussions on African development, bringing together a broad range of global know-how and efforts of the international community are always top on the list for dialogue. TICAD provides an open forum that generates innovative discussion, among various stakeholders on African development.

What does Africa need to succeed?

In building the Africa we yearn for, a collaborative and committed support is needed.

Today our Chairman will be preaching the philosophy of Africapitalism and of collaboration for a progressive Africa in Japan. He will deliver the keynote address at the Plenary Public-Private Business Dialogue. He will speak alongside Presidents and business leaders including H.E. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister, Japan; H.E. Mr. Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, President, Egypt and Chair, African Union (AU); H.E. Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, President, Nigeria; and H.E. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, President, South Africa, on the expectations of a thriving African private sector and the optimism of a renewed Japan-Africa partnership that prioritizes investments, bilateral trade, entrepreneurship and job creation for Africa’s youth population. 

After which he will also deliver the keynote address at the official Business Forum, hosted by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO).

Africa is rich with unexplored investment opportunities, still a collaboration between the public sector and the private sector must occur.

Nothing strengthens industrialization faster than trade relationships hence there is the need to focus on the development on the African entrepreneur to stand side by side the rest of the world.
