A female dominated
list of finalists has emerged in the UBA Foundations national essay competition
in Senegal. Of the 12 finalists that made the final list, nine are females.
The competition,
which is in its second year in Senegal, will see the 12 finalists write a second
supervised essay on Saturday, 19 December 2015 from which three finalists will emerge
as winners of educational grants on offer.
The second edition
of UBA Foundation National Essay Competition in Senegal was launched on Friday,
October 9, 2015.
Ijeoma Aso, MD/CEO,
UBA Foundation, speaking at the launch, said the essay competition is an
opportunity for senior secondary school students to exhibit their writing and
analytical thinking skills with an opportunity to win educational grants to
study in any African university of their choice.
She also explained
that the competition is a response to UBA’s desire to positively impact on the
educational development of youths in Africa.
