3 FITNESS APPS FOR WOMEN BY GLORY ONWUKA

Sometimes it is hard trying to stay fit while having a career that keeps you engaged from 8am - 6pm or for people living in a cosmopolitan city as busy as Lagos, 4am -10pm, (time spent in traffic inclusive) and even on weekends, you just want to stay curled up in bed and sleep the day away. It’s even harder when you are working from home during a pandemic.

However, all these conditions are perfect for unwanted weight gain caused by irregular eating habits- stress, inadequate rest, and little or zero physical exercise (for those of us whose jobs require little or no form of physical activity) which in turn leads to tummy bloating, love handles, overall weight gain and the everlasting struggle to fit into your clothes and attain that hot bod that is every woman’s dream. Also, because of your busy schedule, maintaining a gym membership is almost impractical as you may never find the time to visit the gym to get that banging shape on point.

Thanks to technology, there is a solution for women like us and I would like to recommend 3 fitness apps that provide you with simple exercises you can fit into your daily ‘getting ready for work’ routine to get you back in shape. The best part is that these apps are all mobile friendly (Android and IOS) and give you ‘easy to follow’ routines you can do from the comfort of your home!

1.    FITON

If you are looking for a fitness app that is actually FREE, then FITON is for you. This app provides you with live and on-demand personalized workout plans across multiple disciplines such as dance & barre, Pilates & yoga, cardio, and HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). The most notable section is the pre/post-natal workout section. This app is tailored for women on the go and at different stages of their life and fitness goals, even through motherhood. So whatever your interests are, there is something here for you. You can even search workout plans by the body part you wish to focus on and get customized plans that suit your exact need. It also allows you experiment with different plans if you have nothing specific in mind. FitOn is available for Android and IOS.

2.    7 MINUTES WORKOUT

Do you have only 7minutes to spare out of your busy schedule? Look no further! 7 minutes Workout will take you through all the steps to your fitness goal in just 7 minutes. Yes! I said 7 minutes. Hard to believe? Just try and see. This app allows you work out anywhere, and at any time with absolutely no equipment required. It contains professionally designed workout routines that are short and effective. It even comes with voice and video tutorials, and step by step instructions so you know you’ll be nailing all your forms perfectly. It is completely free and very user friendly. The routines also accommodate the user’s fitness level; beginner – expert. The best part is that this app is compatible with Apple Health to track your workouts and calories burned. It is available on Android and IOS.

3.    KINETICOACH

If you are always on the move, and spend time in hotels during business trips where you have access to gym equipment, this app is for you. With more than 1,000 custom workouts and hundreds of different exercises, you’ll never get bored with your weekly exercise plan or with the gym’s equipment. It is ideal for users who, vacation, use the local gym, or work out in the comfort of their own home. This app asks you to rate your energy level and mood ("Feeling Stressed & Tired" or "Feeling Great! Bring It On!") before it generates a custom, time-based workout for you. So on days when you're in the mood to work out, or days when you're just trying to get it done, just launch your Kineticoach and get started. It is completely free and available on Android and IOS.

Worthy of note are other free apps like Zero, 30 Day Fitness challenge, Abs & Core workouts, Butt workout and Fitness, Qinetic, and not so free apps like Pear, Aaptiv, Fitbit Coach, Fitbod and MapmyRun. Whatever your kettle of fish, the ultimate aim remains that you become fit, while maintaining your busy schedule.

So, pull out your phones and lets get started!
